MCFA Launches “Narrators of the Land” Project

Under the patronage of the President of Al Maaref University, Prof. Ali Alaeddine, the Faculty of Mass Communication and Fine Arts (MCFA) launched the “Narrators of the Land” oral memory website during a special seminar held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the university campus in Beirut. The event was attended by a group of specialists in the field, in addition to a large audience of students and interested participants.

The initiative aims to employ artificial intelligence in preserving collective memory and advancing media content production.

Following the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the Lebanese National Anthem, the President of the University delivered a speech in which he emphasized that “what the faculty is presenting today is an act of cultural resistance and a living proof of your awareness and sense of responsibility. We are confident in your ability to face challenges and to offer a civilized and humane model that we strive to achieve together.”

Prof. Alaeddine further stressed that “the generations of Al Maaref University are founded on building the human being through knowledge and ethics, paving the way for a major transformation in the reality of the nation and the future of the world.” He also expressed his appreciation to the faculty, the Department of Journalism and Digital Media, the supervising professors, and the participating students for “this outstanding effort.”

The event then witnessed the official launch of the website, during which oral history specialist Ms. Amani Rammal delivered a comprehensive presentation on its services. The platform is an interactive digital space based on documented oral memory through audio testimonies that record the memory of the 2024 Israeli war on Lebanon. It integrates language and storytelling, journalism, digital technology, and artificial intelligence tools within a conscious cognitive and ethical framework.

The seminar also featured a series of interactive activities inspired by the project and held on the university campus. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the participating students.
