The Faculty of Sciences (FoS) at Al Maaref University (MU) organized a training workshop entitled “Debug Your Design: UX/UI Foundations for Computer Scientists,” which was attended by FoS students and individuals interested in the field of application and website design. The workshop was delivered by UX/UI specialist Haneen Abbas on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the university campus in Beirut.

The workshop began with an introduction to the distinction between User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI), and the importance of their integration in building successful digital platforms that meet users’ needs. In the second segment, the trainer presented practical examples on how to reduce complexity and make in-app navigation more seamless.

A third segment focused on “Turning Ideas into Designs,” where participants learned how to sketch initial concepts and transform them into preliminary layouts (wireframes).

The workshop also highlighted the importance of selecting appropriate color schemes, organizing typography, and designing buttons and interactive elements in ways that enhance content clarity and improve the overall user experience. In addition, emphasis was placed on understanding the needs of the target audience through research and data collection, as well as developing User Personas to support informed and user-centered design decisions.

In conclusion, the workshop addressed some of the most common mistakes made by beginners, such as overcrowding interfaces with excessive elements or overlooking usability testing. The trainer provided practical advice on how to avoid these issues, along with valuable guidelines to help students develop their skills in a structured and systematic manner.
