Dr. Ismail Hijazi is the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Al Maaref University. He holds a PhD in Organic and Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Rennes 1, France. Before becoming Dean, he served as Assistant Dean and Chairperson of the Medical Laboratory Sciences Department. His academic experience also includes teaching at several universities in Lebanon. Internationally, he worked as a research engineer at Imperial College London, one of the world’s leading universities in science and engineering, and at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).
Dr. Hijazi has extensive experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, project management, and community service. He has published 19 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, and is a co-inventor of four registered patents. He has also supervised and evaluated doctoral and master’s research in Lebanon, France, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Hijazi received research fellowships from the Marie Curie AMAROUT European Programme, C’Nano Île-de-France, and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. His research interests include organic and inorganic chemistry, porphyrins, graphene, carbon nanomaterials, sustainable materials, and environmental and biomedical applications.
